Everyone’s favourite soothsayer, Ming-Chi Kuo, has predicted that Apple’s upcoming event on Thursday will see new MacBook Pro in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities, is something of a legend in Apple circles for his uncannily accurate predictions on Apple’s upcoming devices. In this case, he claims that the new MacBook computer will use Intel SkyLake chips (not Kaby Lake), offer a more efficient screen, up to 2TB of storage and an OLED touch bar with a chip straight out of the Apple Watch. He also expects a “Type-C and MagSafe-like adapter rolled out by Apple or a third-party supplier.” The new MacBook Pro computers are expected to come in the aforementioned 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes, and is also expected to feature USB Type-C ports, Thunderbolt 3, a butterfly keyboard (as on the MacBook) and Touch-ID. Kuo also expects a couple of updated iMacs (21.5-inches and 27-inches) with updated internals and discrete AMD graphics cards. He also thinks that we might expect to see a stand-alone 5K display to replace the now discontinued Apple Cinema Display. He does add that the above will probably not be seen till the first half of next year. Kuo’s suggestion of an upcoming 13-inch MacBook have been dismissed by MacRumors. The latter claims that we’ll see a 13-inch MacBook Air model rather than a MacBook. The event is scheduled for 10:30 PM IST and will be streamed on Apple’s home page.
