North America's largest music festival is back with a killer lineup. With the complete lineup out, Coachella 2017 looks to be just as promising as the 2016 edition, if a little predictable. Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returns to the iconic Empire Polo Grounds for two straight weekends of beautiful music, huge art installations and the sizzling smell of good food. Like last year, Coachella will take over Indio on the 2nd and 4th weekend of April- April 14th to 16th and then again from April 21st to 24th . As is the tradition, this year's Coachella poster too lists the lineup in decreasing order of font size, retaining its controversial ranking system of artists. The biggest headliners get featured in the largest font, the not-so-big in a smaller font and the rest in tiny, minuscule, almost-illegible lettering. With their latest album "Moon Shaped Pool" proving to be yet another genius piece of art, Radiohead is the biggest headliner this year with Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar playing the other days. Beyonce's grammy-nominated 2016 concept album "Lemonade" makes her spot a no-brainer considering Coachella's increasing push to embrace mainstream pop. Despite releasing an album that got a nod of approval from the POTUS himself, Kendrick Lamar was surprisingly missing in last year's lineup, although a guest-heavy performance by Anderson .Paak last year meant he wasn't missing from the action. The major headliners are supported by the likes of The XX, Father John Misty, Empire of the Sun, Bon Iver, Lorde and more. Apart from The XX, who have been on a dream run this past year, almost all other bands in this category are repeat performers. And going by Coachella tradition, they are now featured in a bigger font size than the last time they played. Coachella's strong legacy of dance music spills over to this year as well. If last year was David Guetta's chance to play for the hipster gathering, at Coachella 2017, It will be Martin Garrix and DJ Snake's responsibility to keep the dance-heavy Sahara tent grooving with beats and drops. Yet, what makes Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival the place to be every spring is not the top billers or the second headliners. It is for those who are mentioned in the tiniest of font and ranked the lowest in the lineup. And this year, Coachella may have taken their rankings a bit too far. Is Hans Zimmer, the brain behind the soundtracks of The Dark Knight, Inception and Interstellar so obscure that he had to be included among the lowest of the low? Coachella certainly seems to think so. Another great artist that gets a similar treatment this year is Devendra Banhart, a Venezuelan-American singer-songwriter and visual artist known for his "ashram-appropriate guitar strums, trippy-hippie tone poetry". But controversies aside, like every year Coachella promises to be a beautiful place to be, laid out under the North-American spring sun for three days in the Indio valley.
