Sometimes, the simple connection between a game and some things that I like very much is all it takes to sell me on the potential of the title. Sprinkle in a unique art style and interesting plot premise, and I’m pretty much invested in checking it out.
That’s Virginia. This is a first person interactive drama, as publisher 505 Games describes, that’s set in Virginia in 1992. A young boy has disappeared, and a recently graduated FBI agent ad her partner are looking into it.
The announcement trailer draws parallels to Twin Peaks, The X-Files and The Outer Limits in a quote from The Verge. I could have done with more in the way of actual gameplay, but this is what they produced.
To be honest, I’m getting Firewatch vibes from this thing, and I sort of love that notion.
Virginia will hit the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 22, 2016. If you’re inclined to check it out, there’s a demo available on Steam right now.
